Indigo Dyeing Museum, Yukihiro Fujisawa Sumida City Official Website (sumida.lg.jp)」
The theme of this museum is indigo dyeing. Visitors can appreciate the excellent techniques of Mr. Fujisawa, a Sumida Meister, and his works such as “Aizome Noren” (indigo-dyed curtains) and yukata, and there is also an exhibition room, workshop, and store related to the history of the indigo color known as Japan blue. The workshop has been making indigo-dyed products for more than 120 years for three generations, and is one of the few workshops that make indigo-dyed yukata. The dye is fermented for years to become the one and only indigo. If you call in advance to make a reservation, you can try indigo-dyeing a tenugui (hand towel), and we encourage you to do so. Please feel free to contact us to arrange a reservation.
